A MidSummer Night's Reading...

I'm a little late with July's list, folks.  Sorry about that, but there was just no help for it.  I finally got my pre-order in from a book that EVERYONE and their mother has had for eons.  I was literally the last person in the world to get her copy and I just had to sit down and read as soon as I got it in my hot little hand.

And, boy was it a fantabulous read.  I'm sure you're all just dying to know the name of said book, but since it was read in August, you'll just have to wait to hear about it later.  Na-na-na-boo-boo.

Okay, so on with my July Reading list!  And, let me tell you, I got so lost in all these books.

  • THE LOVER'S DICTIONARY by David Levithan ... YA literary
  • THIS GORGEOUS GAME by Donna Freitas ... YA literary
  • HOLD STILL by Nina LaCour ... YA literary
  • A STORM OF SWORDS by George R.R. Martin ... Fantasy
  • GONE, GONE, GONE by Hannah Moskowitz ... YA literary ARC
  • STORK by Wendy DelSol ... YA paranormal romance
  • ALSO KNOWN AS ROWN POHI by Ralph Fletcher ... YA contemporary ARC
  • FLYAWAY by Helen Landalf ... YA contemporary ARC
  • DEVIANT by Adrian McKinty ... YA mystery/suspense ARC
  • VAMPIRE INSTINCT by Joey W. Hill ... Paranormal
  • BEYONDERS: A WORLD WITHOUT HEROES by Brandon Mull ... YA fantasy
  • RAW BLUE by Kirsty Eagar ... (Aussie**)YA literary
  • HOW I LIVE NOW by Meg Rosoff ... YA contemporary
  • BUT I LOVE HIM by Amanda Grace ... YA literary

That's my list for July, minions.  Did you read any on this list?  How did you enjoy them?  As always, book recs are always appreciated.   What do you think I should go for next?  I'll just be over here with my nose stuck in yet another book ;)

**I point out the fact that this is an Aussie book only because I had the devil's own time hunting this book down. Only after I begged it from a blog buddy did I get to enjoy it, and let me tell you, I'm so glad I got to read it!

  1. Yay for Aussie YA! I've heard amazing things for Raw Blue, so you'll have to do a review of it to convince me ;)

Also, I'm contemplating jumping into the world of George R.R. Martin. I have Game of Thrones, but I just ... *aimless flail*. It's a big world. Like Wheel of Time. Should I take the leap??

  2. Alas, I haven't read any of those. Which was your favorite?

  3. Caitlin: RAW BLUE was awesome, kind of dark, but we both know that's right up my alley. And even though I don't know how to surf, I still love reading about it all. And, GAME OF THRONES!!! Best. Books. Ever. I started reading them after I'd watched the HBO series, and let me tell you. MADE OF WIN. seriously.

Linda: Since I'm so utterly in love with George RR Martin, I'd have to give top honors this month to A STORM OF SWORDS, but GONE GONE GONE by Hannah Moskowitz and RAW BLUE by Kirsty Eagar just wowed me :)

  4. come on, LOVER'S DICTIONARY doesn't get top honors? i love everything he writes AND it's got its own twitter feed (@loversdiction) where he adds new words not in the book. sigh.

i think i'm going to wait a bit longer before i tackle george r.r. martin's series...just cause i've got no time and it seems like a good series to pick up during the winter months.

  5. Abby: I did so love LOVERS DICTIONARY, and I'll have to check out that twitter handle. But, Martin has a stranglehold on my reading life right now, but I told myself that I will not read A FEAST OF CROWS until I've made a dent in the rest of my TBR pile. His books are like 1,000 pages long (thats like 3 or 4 normal sized books)

  6. Hmmm...I'm sure I can't imagine what book it was that you were waiting for. I could take a guess but I would want to make any waves by being right and therefore ruining the big unveil at the end of the month. Or will it be the end of the month? Hmm...

  7. What a great month! There's a few on here that I never heard of, like Stork, wonder what that's about??

I loved Hold Still and I have The Lover's Dictionary and But I Love Him on my TBR list. So glad that you liked Raw Blue. :)

  8. Kelly: I wonder when that book might be unveiled ;) I guess you'll just have to wait and see, huh?

Angie: Stork was actually a pretty good read, paranormal, which im kind of over right now, but this had a unique spin on it considering it had to with norse mythology. if youre still super into paranormal romances, you should check it out.
