CONTEST!!

As you fun friends know, this girl *points at self* has had a book or two published.  The most recent of which being A SLIVER OF HOPE.
Isn't she purrdy?

Now, I want to do something fun with my FaceBook Author page and my Twitter background.  Instead of just making the cover photos that of the book cover (boring, I know), I thought it might be fun to put together a collage of sorts.  (and when I say that, I mean that Kelly Breakey will probs be doing all the heavy lifting as we all know I'm a complete lackwit when it comes to that kind of stuff).

Ahem.  Seems I've gotten off track.   Big shocker there, huh? ;)  Anywho...I'd love to make this a collage of YOU, the fans who've bought, read, enjoyed, and told others about me and my little SLIVER

So, send me your pictures, peeps.  Of you or my book or BOTH you and my book, out in the wild, roaming free.

Here are some examples of what I got when A&F broke free:
It could look like this:
Or, better: Like this!
Even better: THIS one came to me with the caption: YOU SUCK. MY FACE IS SOAKED

Post them to my FaceBook Author Page (while you're there, you could always hit the LIKE button, too.  #justsayin) or on the Twitter using the hashtags #FANtastic or #ASliverofHope or even just @ reply to me at @KarlaNellenbach

The contest will be open until May 5th (if you've already read SLIVER, you know what the significance of that day was in Hannah's life).  There will be a couple of different prizes handed out.  Most original (remember I'm a YAer, so try to keep things PG) photo, 100th photo posted, and one random entrant will each get an autographed copy of A SLIVER OF HOPE.

And, who knows? I might just add a few more prizes into the mix.  Happy photographing, folks!

Cover: A SLIVER OF HOPE

It's here, people!  The oh-so-shiny and new cover for A SLIVER OF HOPE, which is set to be released April 1, 2013

Isn't she just so pretty?  Oh, and because I'm a giver today, I shall also hand you fun folks the blurb as well:

My twin sister was the only person in the world I thought I’d known inside and out. Apparently, I was wrong.

Twin sisters share a unique bond, one that can't be broken by miles, time, or even death. Hannah and Hope Morton are no exception. When Hope takes her own life, Hannah loses a sister and a best friend, a catastrophe she isn't sure she'll survive herself.

With her family in ruins, Hannah is slowly disappearing, drowning in a sea of misery. Even her wild, energetic best friend can't pull her out of her grief. Desperate to help Hannah, her brother comes home from college, bringing his best friend Julian along, the first boy to break Hannah’s heart. None of their efforts are enough to pull Hannah off her self destructive path, though. Julian is the only one who can get through to her, working his way into her frozen soul with cocky remarks and genuine love that warms her from the inside out.

As Hannah works to find answers, she continues to uncover new secrets and people that reveal a side of Hope she had never shared with her twin. Alone now, Hannah must make a decision of her own: move on and start a new life with the people she has left, or let the weight of her grief drag her down with her sister.

Now and Then

As you peeps know, my second novel A SLIVER OF HOPE is due to come out soon, and we've been working diligently on the cover design.  The front is just about done, so I was asked for my author photo for the back.

This is what I had on ALWAYS AND FOREVER...

Well, if you fun friends have been following the progress of Operation Skinny Bitch, you know that this girl *points at self* definitely does not look anything like that anymore.  So, we had to do a little photo shoot for SLIVER.

And this is what we got...

YOWZA!!! Those two bitches don't even look like the same person, huh? *big grin*

A Sliver of a TEASE...

So, this might just be the last tease from A SLIVER OF HOPE. I'm running dangerously close to spoiler territory. But, you will be glad to know that this sad little tale is finished (well, first draft anyhow) and has been thrown at my lovely beta. Anyone interested in joining Liz in being a big meanie...er beta, please let me know. I welcome all opinions! :)

Here you go!

I trudged toward the cafeteria as if I was walking toward a firing squad. Well, I guess I kind of was. Normally, we sat in the center of a mish-mashed group. Your friends—the jocks, the cheerleaders, the A-listers—all crammed in with mine—the band geeks, the stoners, the losers. Now, I didn’t know where to go. I was lost, floundering in a sea of confusion.

Where did I belong now that you weren’t with me?

I turned around, intending to just leave…go hide out in the library or even the bathroom until the lunch period was over. And smacked right into the one person I’d hoped never to see again.

“Hannah!” Mike gasped, his hands closing over my arms to steady me. His green eyes were shadowed and bloodshot, attesting to long hours spent grieving for a girl he’d never really cared about. “Hannah, I’m so glad I caught up with you. Julian said he saw you and—“

I jerked away from him with a cold, menacing glare. “Don’t touch me! Don’t even talk to me.” I hissed.

Tears sprang up instantly. “I loved her.” He whispered, and he almost sounded like he meant it.

A bitter laugh gurgled up and spewed forth. “Yeah right, Mike. You loved her.” I sneered in a mean little voice. “You loved her so much that you were fucking everything that moved while you were with her. You loved her that much. Don’t even try to deny it.” I cut him off when he looked like he was going to argue the point. “She told me everything. Didn’t expect that, did you? Yeah, she told me all about you and that skank. And, now, you’re going to stand there crying your crocodile tears, trying to tell me how much you loved her? Do you think I’m some kind of an idiot? I’m not going to forgive you for what you did to her. It’s your fault, you son of a bitch. You killed her!”

I didn’t wait for him to respond. I couldn’t. I turned on my heel and ran…ran as fast as I could right out of the cafeteria, out of the school, and I kept running until I was at our front door.

So much for my promise to make it through the day without having an emotional breakdown. Well, you know what they say about good intentions. The road to Hell is paved with them. Too bad I’m already there.

I TEASE Therefore I Am...A TEASE, That Is...

Holy Cow! I finally got my tease down to 500 words! Don't faint guys. I know you never thought the day would come that I would conform to the teasing bylaws, but alas, Hell has finally froze over.

On with the celebration!

It's Hannah's first day back at school, and it might just be a little too soon for her. Poor girl :(

**snip! snip! you guys are made entirely of AWESOME! thanks a bunch! :)**

Hopelessly Addicted to TEASING....

Felix is playing hide and seek with me. And, damn is that little bastard good! I cannot find him. Come out. Come out, where ever you are.

Ahhh, well. No knife-wielding garden gnomes this week. No pink parasol twirling poltergeists either for that matter...or yellow polka dotted yetis...or even singing sawdust fairies. **sigh**

That's right, peeps. I'm going the normal, teen life route with my shiny new WIP, tentatively titled A SLIVER OF HOPE.

Enjoy!

***thanks for all your feedback guys!***
